Family Development
MICA's family development programs are designed to help low-income families rise out of poverty. Our family development model requires one-on-one meetings with families to develop goals, manage finances, and provide support and assistance. Each of our family development programs comes with first-hand assistance to not only help families make ends meet, but also to educate and work closely with families to make changes in their lives that will help them become more self-sufficient.
MICA's Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) program matches families with a MICA Family Development Specialist. These specialists work directly with families to provide them with opportunities to develop new skills to improve different areas of their life. MICA's FaDSS program has a strong history of success and has led to similar models being created across the United States.
Other MICA family development programs like LiHEAP and our emergnecy food pantries help families and individuals make it through tough times by providing them with a little help. Whether its helping with winter energy bills or helping parents put food on the table, these family development programs aid families as they work their way back out of poverty and into a life of self-sufficiency.
MICA also gives organizations a chance to be involved. Project Home Mission works with service organizations, such as churches and community groups, to provide aid for low-income families through MICA's FaDSS program. Some families still live in poverty, but are not quite eligible for FaDSS services. Project Home Mission also gives community organizations the chance to help these families.
Each of MICA's family development programs helps low-income families with the assistance they need to make it through another month and provides them with the education and one-on-one interaction that helps families lift themselves out of poverty and into self-sufficiency.
