Emergency Food Pantries
In 2007, approximately 11% of Iowans were forced to skip meals due to food scarcity. The reality of this statistic is faced on a consistent basis in many low-income homes. MICA has worked closely with local communities to provide a food pantry that is available to families in need. Operating emergency food pantries in Hardin, Poweshiek, and Story County, MICA is there to help families who are trying to simply put food on the table.
MICA provides as many nutritional options as possible and works with community members, churches, and other organizations to keep the shelves stocked continually. It is through these food pantries that many families are able to provide meals for their children.
More Information on MICA's Food Pantries
MICA always appreciates donations to our local food pantries. This could include monetary donations as well as food and/or your own time as a volunteer. To find out more information about what you can do to help or for more general information about MICA's emergency food pantries, please contact the local county Family Development Centers in Hardin, Poweshiek, and Story County.
