Homelessness Prevention & Rapid ReHousing Program
The Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) is designed to address the needs of people who are currently homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. The service provides necessary funding to assist participants with their rent and, in some cases, utility bills, if they are at risk of becoming homeless. Individuals and families utilizing the service must be able to sustain the living improvements in the future without aid.
Individuals who qualify for HPRP services will receive case management services to determine the most appropriate resources for each situation. Case managers may assist participants with credit repair counseling, housing search and placement, and other supportive services. Financial assistance is available to help qualifying participants with rent deposits and payment, utility deposits and payments, past due rent and utilities, and temporary housing costs and moving expenses.
Who is eligible for HPRP services?
- Individuals and families who are homeless or would be homeless if not for HPRP assistance.
- Individuals and families willing to participate in family financial counseling.
- Households that earn less than 50% of the Area Median Income.
- Individuals and families that can remain stable in their housing situation after the removal of temporary assistance
- Individuals and families whose rent falls within HUD's Fair Market Value guidelines
Who is not eligible?
- Individuals who have been homeless more than three times in the last year.
- Individuals and families receiving Section 8 or other income-based housing.
- Individuals and families that cannot remain stable in their housing situation after removal of temporary assistance.
- Those seeking assistance with mortgage payments.
