What is HPRP, and how does this program assist HACAP clients?
The main goal of HPRP is to assist with homeless prevention, as well as giving short-term assistance that will prevent clients from losing their housing. In order to be eligible for this program, clients must fall into one of the following categories:

• Renters who have been served an eviction notice
• Renters who are at risk of losing their current housing
• Individuals and/or families who are currently homeless
• Homeowners who have been foreclosed on and are moving to a rental property

If the individual/family is currently homeless and no shelters are available, HPRP may possibly place them in a motel for immediate shelter needs and assign the clients with a case worker to work on long-term solutions.

If a person is in danger of being on the street, this program can assist with rent deposits and payments, utility deposits and payments, past due rent and utilities, as well as temporary housing costs and moving expenses.

All clients involved in the program are required to work extensively with an assigned case worker for up to 18 months. The idea of the program is to make sure that families can be good consumers of housing after the program has assisted them.

Who is eligible for this program?
HPRP serves individuals and families who are homeless or near homeless, those who are at imminent risk of evection, and who are 50% of the Area Median Income in the following counties: Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn (does not serve the city limits of Cedar Rapids), Washington, Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren, and Wapello. Note: Another Agency will be serving Cedar Rapids.
